CVSS 2.0 compatibility.

netVigilance, Inc. Announces CVSS 2.0 compatibility.
Leads the way on Vulnerability Scoring.
PORTLAND, Oregon -- June 21, 2007- netVigilance, Inc., the Windows-based leader in network Vulnerability Assessment (VA) announced today that it will rate vulnerabilities according to CVSS 2.0 (common Vulnerability Scoring System) instead of CVSS 1.1, which has been used until now.
"When we introduced CVSS in May of 2005 it was a huge step forward in vulnerability rating." Explains Jesper Jurcenoks of netVigilance and he continues "But after rating thousands of vulnerabilities several shortcomings have been identified. CVSS 2.0 tries to address these issues."
With CVSS 2.0 we note that many vulnerabilities that had earlier been rated low (1-4) are now being rated as medium (4-7). This will have an impact on PCI (Payment Card industry) compliance, making it slightly harder to live up to the PCI requirements, but will increase the overall security posture of the internet.
The move of netVigilance to CVSS 2.0 coincides with the announcement of NVD.NIST.GOV to move to CVSS 2.0
