netVigilance, Inc. recognized by NIST
netVigilance submits more corrections to CVSS 2.0 than anybody else.
BEAVERTON, Oregon -- June 16, 2008- netVigilance, Inc., the Windows-based leader in network Vulnerability Assessment (VA) announced today that it has recognized by the NVD group of NIST as a valuable contributor to the CVSS Database. The thanking credit to netVigilance can be seen on http://nvd.nist.gov/contact.cfm
The National Vulnerability Database (NVD) part of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has recognized netVigilance for its detailed feedback on the NVD CVSS v2 scores.
"We started the major overhaul of our Test Case documentation and the CVSS 2.0 scores right after new year. We have been diligently providing detailed feedback to the NVD team ever since” states Jesper Jurcenoks of netVigilance and he continues “NVD has an online tracking system for correction submissions by their regular partners. The system has been in use for a few months and has a total of 106 logged issues as of today, 69 of these issues have been logged by netVigilance (65%)."
netVigilance CTO Jesper Jurcenoks was also the first to point out an inconsistency between the NVD rating and the CVSS 2.0 standard, prompting a long discussion that resulted in the conclusion that the CVSS 2.0 standard is flawed. NVD has now invited netVigilance to work with them on the next version of CVSS.
The corrections to the NIST CVSS scores are included in the weekly Test Case (signature) updates from netVigilance.
