netVigilance, Inc. Updates WinHoneyd™ Open Source Honeypot for Windows to 1.5b

Industry welcomes netVigilance initiative

PORTLAND, Oregon -- May 25, 2007 - netVigilance, Inc., the Windows-based leader in network Vulnerability Assessment (VA) announced today the release of WinHoneyd™ 1.5b, an open source low-interaction honeypot for Windows based on Honeyd, the Unix/Linux platform developed by Niels Provos. The netVigilance WindHoneyd solution can simulate big network structures with different operating systems (OS) on a single host, thereby hosts running different services can be simulated through a central Winhoneyd.

"We developed WindHoneyd since we recognized the need for an open source Windows-based solution based on the popular Honeyd virtual honeypot," stated Jesper Jurcenoks, CEO of netVigilance, Inc. "By providing a free, open access, downloadable solution for network surveillance and early-warning from potential attackers, we believe the industry will benefit from this contribution."

The response from the security community has been overwhelming:

Jesper,

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Roger A. Grimes, InfoWorld, Security Columnist

Jesper,

Good work on porting the newest honeyd version!

Michael A. Davis, Chief Executive Officer, Savid Technologies, Inc.

The netVigilance WinHoneyd product is available free of charge and is ideally suited for networking professionals who are seeking a solution for Windows and are familiar with Linux Honeyd,. Go to www.netvigilance.com/winhoneyd to download WinHoneyd. The company has also developed a commercial GUI for configuring WinHoneyd which can be downloaded from the netVigilance web-site. Paid support is available.
